How to get to Brno?

By plane

There are two big international airports easily reachable from Brno: Prague and Vienna.

There is also a small international airport Brno-Turany, which is situated in an outer neighbourhood of the city. The airlines flying to Brno-Turany are: Lufthansa, Smart Wings, Ryanair, Wizzair, Travel Service, BMI Regional, Tunisair and Tailwind. There is a direct scheduled connection from:London, Eindhoven and Munich. In season, there are also many charter flights. For details visit www.airport-brno.cz

Getting to the city centre from Brno-Turany airport

There are two bus lines going from the Brno-Turany airport (the bus stop is in front of the main building) to the city center (stop Hlavni nadrazi):

  • 76 – going during day (5:05 – 22:05) every 30 minutes (XX:07 and XX:37)
  • 89 – going during night (22:35 – 4:35) every 30-60 minutes

For this trip (approximately 25 minutes) you have to buy a ticket either in the ticket machine (arrival and departure hall) or in the Airport Shop, the ticket is also sold by the bus driver. The price of the ticket to the city centre is 25 CZK (approximately 1 €). Please note, that the ticket must be validated immediately after entering the bus in an yellow machine located in bus otherwise you could pay a fine of about 40 €.



By bus

There are two main companies providing the international bus connections:

The RegioJet buses arrive to bus station by hotel Grand in the city center. Other buses arrive to central bus station Zvonarka (check maps below).

By train

You can reach Brno by many international train connections coming to Brno main train station (Hlavni nadrazi). For more information check the webpage of Czech railways http://www.cd.cz/en/default.htm.
Tickets don’t need to be bought in advance, you can buy them at the train station just before the departure. Tickets bought online in advance might be cheaper.

From Prague

You can reach Prague by some of the many airlines flying to the international Prague - Vaclav Havel airport (for more info check the webpage http://www.prg.aero/en/), international bus (Eurolines, RegioJet, see above) and train connections.

  • Getting to the Prague city centre from Prague airport

There are two main bus lines (the stop is in front of the arrival hall of both Terminal 1 and 2) going to outer parts of the city, where you can change to metro lines and get either to the main bus station Florenc or the main train station. For both trips, you have to buy a ticket either at the desk in the arrival hall of Terminal 1 and 2 (7:00 22:00) or in the ticket machine located at the bus stop. The price of the ticket is 32 CZK (approx. 1.30 ) and you have to validate it immediately after getting in the bus in the yellow validating machine.

Getting to Florenc bus station or main railway station take bus line 119 to _Nádraží Veleslavín_ (timetable in English language available here < a href ="http://www.dpp.cz/en" target="_blank">http://www.dpp.cz/en) change to metro line A to Muzeum (green line) and then take metro line C (red line) either to Florenc (bus terminal) or to Hlavni nadrazi (railway station).
If you are going to the main railway station, you can also use direct bus "AE - Airport Express". Tickets are sold on the bus for 60 CZK (approx. 2.25 EUR).

Getting to Brno from Prague
There are 2 options how to get to Brno from Prague:

  • By train – from Prague main train station (Hlavni nadrazi) to Brno main train station. The trip takes approximately 2.5 hours and costs approx. 250 CZK (10 €) check http://www.cd.cz/en. Make sure you take a fast train (EC, IC, RJ or Ex). Other trains (R) have more stops or take longer route and the trip takes approx. 3.5 hours. The tickets can be bought on the station just before the train departure. There is a special bus from the airport directly to the train station (click here).
  • By bus – from Prague airport or bus station Florenc to Brno bus station by hotel Grand, buses from company RegioJet. The trip takes approx. 2.5 hours and costs 210 CZK (approx. 8.50 €). Check https://bustickets.regiojet.cz/en, the seat has to be booked and the ticket bought in advance.

How to get to the hotel Continental:

Hotel Continental is easily reachable by public transport. The journey from the main train station and the bus station of RegioJet is the same, because they are very close to each other. Taxis are usually in the front of the train main station, the price should be around 100 CZK.

By public transport:
In front of the main train station take tram no. 9, the name of the stop is Hlavní nádraží, the trams go ca. every 10 minutes. The journey takes 5 minutes, you need a basic ticket (15 minutes, 20 CZK). Go to stop Česká (it is on a square in front of a church). Get off the tram, and continue straight to the north on the street Kounicova (there will be a park on your right). After walking 300 m, you will see the high building of the hotel on your right side.
